Historic Sam Rosen Elementary School

Sam Rosen Elementary School is a picturesque campus located on the North Side of Fort Worth near the historic Stockyards. Established in 1909, the school was originally designed by M. L. Waller on land donated by Russian immigrant Sam Rosen. A merchant and developer of Rosen Heights, Rosen was known for his generosity and for never foreclosing on a home.

In 1927, a second building was constructed to accommodate the area’s growing population. The current structure, designed by noted architect Wiley G. Clarkson and built by contractor K. H. Muse, features a T-plan design influenced by the Spanish Baroque style, highlighted by its red clay tile roof and decorative entrance. Additional wings were added in 1989 and 2015.

Today, Sam Rosen Elementary is recognized for its architectural significance and its longstanding contribution to public education in Fort Worth, making it eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
